The Students Against Corruption – Sierra Leone (SAC-SL) is a dynamic and pioneering student- led organization dedicated to combating corruption within the education sector of Sierra Leone. Established in 2018, SAC-SL was founded by a group of passionate and forward-thinking students from various educational institutions across the country.

To build and mould a positive mindset in students by creating and promoting internal awareness mechanisms that foster integrity, objectivity, probity, and transparency, thereby reducing corrupt practices to a minimum value within the educational sector.

Students Against Corruption
The Students Against Corruption – Sierra Leone (SAC-SL) is a dynamic and pioneering student-led organization dedicated to combating corruption within the education sector of Sierra Leone. Established in 2018, SAC-SL was founded by a group of passionate and forward-thinking students from various educational institutions across the country.
Recognizing the pervasive impact of corruption on the quality and integrity of education, these students came together with a shared vision of fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership among their peers. The organization has an administrative wing and a student wing through which it performs its functions.
The formation of SAC-SL was motivated by the alarming prevalence of corrupt practices within educational institutions, including bribery, exam malpractices, and embezzlement of funds. These practices not only compromised the quality of education but also perpetuated inequality and stunted the development of a generation that is supposed to be the future leaders of Sierra Leone. The founders of SAC-SL believed that students, as primary stakeholders in the education sector, had a critical role to play in challenging and transforming these corrupt systems.
SAC-SL’s mission is to instill integrity and ethical values in students, creating a culture of accountability and transparency within educational institutions. The organization seeks to empower students to be proactive in identifying, reporting, and combating corruption. This is achieved through a variety of initiatives, including awareness campaigns, educational workshops, public lectures, and the establishment of integrity clubs in schools and universities. By fostering a community of ethically minded students, SAC-SL aims to create a ripple effect that will extend beyond the education sector to influence broader societal norms.
Partnership goal !!
One of the organization’s core strategies is collaboration with key stakeholders, including government bodies, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners. SAC-SL works closely with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone and the Ministry of Education (MBSSE and MTHE) to promote and implement policies that enhance transparency and accountability in the education sector. The organization also engages in research and advocacy to influence policy changes and drive systemic reforms.
